If you've spent years thinking about how to change, improve, shrink, discipline, or manage your body, it can be difficult to imagine another way of relating to it.
You may know intellectually that you don't want to spend the rest of your life fighting your body—and still find yourself monitoring it, judging it, comparing it, or feeling responsible for constantly making it "better."
This workshop offers space to step outside that cycle.
Together, we'll explore how our relationships with our bodies are formed, what can make it difficult to trust or feel connected to them, and what it might look like to begin relating to your body as a place to live rather than a project to complete.
What You'll Explore
During this 90-minute workshop, we'll explore:
Your body story: how experiences, relationships, culture, and diet culture can shape the way you learn to see and relate to your body.
The difference between body management and body care: and why behaviors that look "healthy" from the outside can come from very different places underneath.
Body trust and interoception: what it means to notice and respond to internal cues without expecting yourself to become perfectly intuitive.
Moving beyond body love: how neutrality, curiosity, compassion, and care can offer a more accessible path toward a different relationship with your body.
Small practices of reconnection: ways to begin turning toward your body rather than continually monitoring, correcting, or overriding it.
Who This Is For
This workshop may be especially helpful if you:
- Have spent years dieting, monitoring your body, or trying to get food and exercise "right";
- Understand diet culture intellectually but still find it difficult to apply that understanding to your own body;
- Feel disconnected from your hunger, fullness, needs, pleasure, or other body signals;
- Want to develop greater body trust but aren't sure what that actually looks like in everyday life;
- Are tired of feeling like your body is something you should always be working on.
You do not need to love your body—or even particularly like it—to begin this work. You can be pursuing intentional weight loss and still participate.
You only need some curiosity about what a different relationship with your body might look like.
